The indulgent oak history of the Kingston Maurward library is home to a contemporary shoot titled 'The Dream You Never Wished For'; a series of fine art photographs based on exploring and challenging the symbolism associated with the cultural references of progress and success. In this set of seven images we pull on the atypical traits of noblity and hirearchy. Elements of the background; the lighting, the screens, and the oak detailed merge with the dusty wooden floor and patterned curtains. No secret to the shoot is hidden with these notes finding their way into the corners of the photographs.
A decadent renaissance neck ruffle and crown form the regalia, works of art from florists: Jay Cockett and Ellen Biggs. Blackened eyes and finger-tips evoke smokey tones and accent the shadow of the scene created by model and make-up artist Bethan Perkins. Wisps of hair and cascading curls tumble over the velour dress, supplied and crafted by Evangeline Georgina Barrett. Finally composed, shot and edited by Ben Budden.
